Sue Carl Oswald Johnson, 82, of Wallace, NC, peacefully passed away, July 11, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington, NC.
Sue was born on October 20, 1931, in Wallace, NC. Her parents were Harry Lee Oswald and Polly Davis Oswald. Her siblings were Mary Wingard Oswald Wilson and Harry Lee "Sonny" Oswald III, of Wallace, NC.
Sue married James Thomas Johnson in 1958 and they had three girls, Margaret Highsmith Johnson Pearce, Eugenia Lee Johnson, and Jamie Sue Johnson Moore.
Sue graduated Clement High School of Wallace in 1950 and attended Meredith College and East Carolina University. She resided in Wallace, NC. She was a teacher at Wallace Rose Hill for over 30 years. Sue was a political activist with the Republican Party, member of First Baptist Church of Wallace, and she enjoyed her lifelong member of her Bridge Club. She was a faithful companion to her sister, Mary Wingard Oswald Wilson and a loving friend to many.
Sue is survived by two daughters, Eugenia Lee Johnson and David Levin, of Wilmington, NC and Jamie Sue Johnson Moore and husband Michael, of Carolina Beach, NC. She is also survived by Grandchildren, Mary Margaret Johnson Pearce of Wrightsville Beach, NC and James Stuart Oswald Moore, of Carolina Beach, NC.
She is survived by Sister in Law, Anntilla Scott Oswald, of Wallace. Sue is survived by nieces Ann Davis Oswald Weaver and husband Gary, of Wallace. Emily Scott Oswald Beaman and husband Hugh , of Wilson, NC. Mary Hart Oswald Blackburn and husband Michael, of Wallace, NC. Also survived by great nieces Mary Lila and Lizzie-O Blackburn, of Wallace, NC.
Sue is predeceased by her parents, Harry Lee Oswald and Polly Davis Oswald and her daughter Margaret Highsmith Johnson Pearce, her sister Mary Wingard Oswald Wilson, and brother, Harry Lee "Sonny" Oswald, III.
Sue affected numerous lives through her grace, style and poise. She was the main resource for many for all things etiquette and proper. She was very much known for her class and style. Sue was a talented cook and demonstrated exquisite hospitality. Additionally, many, many students over the years expressed the genuine gratitude for the positive impact her teaching had in their lives. Sue will forever be remembered as the epitome of a true Southern Lady.
Service will be held at Padgett Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 3pm. The family will gather to meet friends after the service at her home.
