Mr. Clifton Hawes "Buddy" Brinkley, age 68 of Wallace, NC, died on July 28, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. Visitation services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 5:30 pm at Rockfish Presbyterian Church in Wallace, NC. Graveside service will be held at 7:15 pm at Rockfish Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Jim Brinkley.
Buddy was born on June 2, 1947 in Duplin County to Helen Brown Brinkley and the late Linwood Clifton Brinkley. He is survived by his two children; Todd Cameron Brinkley and wife Becky Lyle Brinkley of Rock Hill, SC and Misty Brinkley-Smith and husband William Smith of Frederick, MD; nine grandchildren, Austin Lyle Kane, Cameron John Brinkley, Haley Grace Brinkley, Quanterious Jamal Caldwell of Rock Hill and Caleb Preston Barrett, Kiersten Dawn Barrett, Tegan Riley Smith, Brianna Taylor Smith and Catherine Linda Smith of Frederick; two sisters, Linda Brinkley Maready of Wallace and Anita Brinkley Yost and husband William Yost of Salisbury; his mother, Helen Brinkley of Wallace and nieces, nephews and cousins.
In life, Buddy touched many people within the community as President of the Rose Hill Jaycees, President of the Wallace-Rose Hill Band Booster Club, Wallace-Rose Hill Athletic Booster Club, and countless acts of service through the years.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Joe Eason, Bobby Matthews, Robert Matthews, Jimmy Brinkley, James Morrison, Corey Sutton and David Barnes.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the clinicians and staff of Carolina East Homecare and Hospice Service and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their exceptional and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive Wilmington, NC 28401 and the Wallace-Rose Hill Booster Club, 602 High School Road Teachey, NC 28464..
