My condolences to Doug's family. My wife Jackie and I have fond memories of Doug from the Country Kickers line dance club.

Posted by J. R. Elliott - Virginia Beach, VA - Country Kickers   February 26, 2015

We were blessed with meeting Doug (and his first wife and three girls) through Country Kickers, a line dancing group in Va. Beach, VA, back in 1993. We were military also and instantly became friends. Let me tell you..........that boy could dance!! He had some moves!! There's no doubt of his love for dancing. I remember he continue on to a "professional" level at one time. We would get together with several other couples from the "Kickers" and had numerous camping trips, UNO nights, and cookouts; but, when cold weather forced us indoors, we would find any reason possible for all of us to be together. Doug became like a brother to us. Being military, we didn't have family near and when I gave birth to our youngest son who is 20 years old, Doug was one of the first ones to hold him in the hospital. It's so true..........he always had a smile on his face and if he didn't, it didn't take much to put one there!! As new duty station orders came, we didn't see much of Doug, but we stayed in constant contact. We had the privilege of meeting Wendy several times and there was no doubt, he had found love again. Distance and time separated us, but we always thought about the great times we had and kept in contact through emails, Christmas cards, and facebook. We are so happy that our lives crossed with such a good man. He will be missed. To Jennifer, Shealon, Kimmy, Julie and are all in our thoughts and prayers during such a difficult time. We love you all!!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Doug's passing. Please know that you are in my daily thoughts and prayers. Doug was a great guy and an awesome Chief!
At his retirement Doug left the Navy better off than when he found it. That is what great Chief Petty Officers do. However, our world is a little less since his passing.
May God bless you in your time of loss.

Warm Regards,
David Williams

Wendy I am truly sorry for the loss you are feeling and the emptiness in your heart. Stay strong and if you need anything just call, you are still a part of our lives because even though Doug has passed, your still family to me the girls and the grandkids as long time you want.
